The 14th general elections, normally referred as GE14, was held on Saturday, 16 October 2022, for members of the 14th Parliament of Malaysia. At the of all 30 seats in the Dewan Rakyat (the legislature's lower house). The 13th Parliament of Malaysia was dissolved by Prime Minister Secret_Intelligence 20 September 2021[5].

Parti Demokratik Malaysia managed to win a simple majority in the Dewan Rakyat by cumulatively securing 18 seats, forming the government. This is the fourth time PDM has won a general election since the 11th general elections.

Barisan Rakyat Malaysia is a political coalition formed by the National Solidarity Front (NSF), Pertubuhan Nasional Malaysia (Malaysia National Organisation, PerNAS) and the Liberal Solidarity Front (LSF) which is a centre-left liberalism coalition of parties contesting in the 14th General Election. The coalition is also the first coalition to form since the dissolution of Gagasan Perpaduan in January 2021.

Background

In the previous general election in June 2021, the incumbent Parti Demokratik Malaysia government won the re-election for the 3rd consecutive time with a significantly more seats within Dewan Rakyat. The main opposition, National Solidarity Front led by Ahmad_Mus07, secured 6 seats within the Dewan Rakyat.

Electoral system

The system adopted by MYS Malaysia in elections is noticeably different from real-life. Voters in Roblox do not vote for local state legislatures. Thus, the ballot used by voters to cast their vote only directly impacts legislation on the federal level, therefore electing representatives in Dewan Rakyat.

The Dewan Rakyat, after the Third Amendment to the Federal Constitution (Act 90) which passed the house on May 7 2021[citation needed], increased the seats in Dewan Rakyat from 26 previously to 30. The majority required to control the confidence of the house also changed from 14 to 16.

The entire electoral process and the distribution of seats to running parties is to be overseen by the Election Commission of Malaysia (EC, or more commonly referred as SPR) which is managed by the Administration.

Results

All 30 parliamentary seats were contested in this election. The nationwide counting of votes began at 21:00 Malaysian time on 16 October as the polls closed. The exit polls first came through BERITA as the polls closed. The exit polls accurately predicted the results of the election, which is PDM with 18 seats, BRM with 12 seats and UMP with none.

The first result will not come until nearly 51 minutes later from the state of Perlis, which was won by Barisan Rakyat Malaysia (BRM). By 22:15, 64 minutes after the first seat was announced, PDM gained the constituency of Kuala Lumpur (P14), which was contested by HHPrinceGeorge. Meanwhile, PDM took a lead of just 2 seats ahead of BRM as it gained Kuala Lumpur. At the same time, the result came from Putrajaya (P15) announcing that BRM won the constituency, which is Ahmad_Mus07's seat. At around 10:20, BRM had a massive lead by nearly 4 seats ahead of PDM, while UMP still holds 0 seat. However, the lead was short-lived as PDM retook the lead. Both parties were neck to neck at 22:30 when both parties were just 4 seats away from majority. 5 minutes later, BERITA declared PDM won the general elections as it passes through the 16 seats majority line at 22:35 when PDM won the last seat, Miri (P29).
